Since I didn’t know how long I would be keeping up with this blog when I first started, I didn’t bother giving cute nicknames to everyone in my family as some bloggers are wont to do. I don’t talk about them much here – or at least I think I don’t – but I feel it’s the right time for names. So here goes:
The Patient One – How do I say everything about my wife in one short name? I think this sums it up. To have been with me and everything I have put her through over the last twenty-five years, this name fits perfectly. She is the most honest, caring and long suffering person I know. And humble too, because she would deflect any of those descriptors.
The Artist – My eldest daughter, who is sixteen and loves to draw and paint. She’s really good at it, even though she is her own worst critic sometimes.
The Engineer – My son who is thirteen and devours everything to do with “how stuff works”, be it a science magazine, a book of facts or a comic book encyclopedia. He is a voracious reader and really good a creating worlds in his favorite video games.
The Ballerina – My youngest daughter, who is ten and a very good ballet dancer. Yeah yeah, I know, every parent says that, but she is really very talented and all of her teachers have said so.
